Walking in God’s Favor
Walking in God’s Favor
“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” – Psalm 5:12 (NKJV)
Every believer longs to experience the favor of God. But what does it mean to walk in His favor? God’s favor is His divine kindness, His open doors, His blessings that go beyond what we can achieve on our own. It is when God’s hand is upon us, guiding us, protecting us, and prospering us.
What Is God’s Favor?
God’s favor is not about luck or chance. It is about relationship. When we walk in obedience and faith, we position ourselves to experience His blessings. Scripture is filled with examples of God’s favor:
- Noah found favor and was preserved from the flood (Genesis 6:8).
- Joseph found favor even as a slave and prisoner, rising to become second in command in Egypt (Genesis 39:21).
- Mary found favor and was chosen to carry the Savior of the world (Luke 1:30).
God’s favor does not mean life will be without trials—but it does mean that His presence will bring victory, even in the midst of struggles.
How Do We Walk in God’s Favor?
Walking in God’s favor is not about trying to earn His love—because His love is already freely given. Instead, it is about aligning ourselves with His will. Here are a few key ways:
- Walk in righteousness – Psalm 5:12 says the Lord blesses the righteous. Righteousness comes not from our works, but from faith in Christ and a heart surrendered to Him.
- Live with integrity – Proverbs 3:3-4 reminds us that mercy and truth lead to favor with God and man.
- Stay faithful in trials – Just like Joseph, when we remain faithful in hard seasons, God’s favor will elevate us at the right time.
- Seek God’s kingdom first – Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 that when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, “all these things will be added” unto us.
What Does God’s Favor Look Like in Daily Life?
- Unexpected opportunities that only God could open.
- Peace that surpasses understanding in the middle of chaos.
- Strength to endure where others would have given up.
- Relationships that bless and uplift us.
- Provision that meets needs in ways we could not imagine.
Closing Reflection
Walking in God’s favor is not about a one-time blessing—it is about a lifestyle of faith and obedience. When we trust God, keep His Word close, and walk humbly before Him, His favor will surround us like a shield.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for surrounding me with Your favor. Help me to walk in integrity, faith, and righteousness so that my life reflects Your goodness. Open the right doors, close the wrong ones, and let my steps be aligned with Your will. May Your favor not only bless me but overflow to others around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
